Andrea has a special interest in women's health and provides art therapy focusing on the emotional aspects of fertility, reproductive loss and offers mind-body interventions as an adjunct to medical care (IVF/ICSI/Donor). Furthermore she provides support for women who suffer from chronic illnesses and issues in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology – endometriosis, ovarian cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Andrea became interested in the field of reproductive health and creative art therapy interventions as a result of her own experiences.
Creativity can connect clients to the natural processes that take place on biological, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
Art therapy models have been developed for individuals dealing with grief, anxiety, anger, depression and guilt and can be modified to meet the needs and unique circumstances of women coping with various reproductive ailments.
For some women, there may not be words to describe the emotions they are experiencing. Art provides individuals with a means to express these indistinguishable feelings and articulate them in a tangible manner, one language cannot grasp.
Current and emerging research in mind-body medicine, allied health and integrative healthcare demonstrates that creative art therapy is an effective, health-enhancing mind-body intervention and form of treatment (Malchiodi, 2012). Art therapy complements and supports traditional and complementary health practices and interventions.
Andrea has a special interest in psychosomatic approaches and offers uniquely designed creative art therapy interventions for women suffering from various gynaecological ailments, and for individuals and couples experiencing reproductive difficulties.
